Happy Birthday Abby!

Five years ago, my daughter was born. On that day I began my journey into parenthood.

As the days, weeks, and months passed, I saw my little baby grow and blossom into the little girl she has become today. When I first brought her home, like any new parent, I was a ball of nerves. I was not sure what to do with her and hoping that I didn’t screw anything up.  As both my children grow, they are getting easier to take care of, but each stage presents new challenges in parenting.

So on my daughter’s birthday this month, I not only celebrate her fifth year, but reflect on the fact that I am celebrating 5 years of being a mother and getting ready to the next stage, wherever it takes me.  Wishing you all the best as you move through your celebrations and milestones!

Wow 2013 seems to have passed us by! I guess chasing after two little ones doesn’t make time stand still! 2014 is here and PB Parenting is excited to be entering into our third year of publication!  We are committed each month to bring you the latest information and events in Palm Beach County. If you have a suggestion, an event or just want to say  “hi” drop me a line at felonice@pbparenting.com. I would love  to hear from you!

The new year is also a great time for change. Many people make individual resolutions but what about a FAMILY resolution? You have a better chance of keeping it if the whole family adopts it. Check out page 12 for some great suggestions on starting the new year off on the right foot.

While the beginning of the 2014-15 school year still seems far away, the new school year will be here before you know it!  January is a busy month for preschool and charter school open houses and enrollment. Check out pages 8-11 for a directory full of options  for your children. An open house is a great way to tour the facility, meet the staff and see if the school is the right choice.

August 2013 Issue – Back To School

August 2013Read the August Issue of PB Parenting

Growing up I remember getting so excited when stores started putting out the Back to School merchandise. I couldn’t wait to go pick out a new backpack and clothes. Now it seems stores are putting out school supplies earlier and earlier.

I would spend a lot of time carefully picking out my outfit for the first day and laying it out the night before. Excited, I would go to bed with butterflies in my stomach. My mom always took pictures of me and my sisters and now years later, I love taking pictures of my daughter’s first day and seeing all of my friends’ post their kids in backpacks and new clothes heading off to school. We love “first day” pics so be sure to send your back to school photos to pbpics@pbparenting.com. They could appear in next month’s issue of PB Pics!

Our August issue is packed with great ideas for the upcoming school year such as tips for hassle free mornings (pg. 8), staying healthy during the school year (pg.16), after school enrichments (pg. 33) and more. We also have a School Spotlight highlighting terrific schools in the area (pg 22).

But don’t worry Summer, we aren’t saying goodbye just yet! We want to enjoy the last few weeks while they last. Check out page 28 to see our summer pictures and all the fun we have been having in Palm Beach County and you’ll find Summer Safety Tips on page 12.

In between issues please be sure to stop by and join our 2,000 facebook fans as we keep you updated on the latest happenings in Palm Beach County. Also don’t miss our weekly e-newsletter (every Friday morning) filled with the latest happenings all over Palm Beach.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and the upcoming school year!
