Maltz Jupiter Theatre hits a homerun with production at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium
The spectacular 2021/22 grand reopening season will kick off in January with a three-week open-air run of Broadway’s Jersey Boys
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Grand Reopening Season 2021/22 is set to be its biggest and most unforgettable season yet, beginning with a three-week run of the Tony® and Grammy Award®-winning musical Jersey Boys (January 11-30, 2022) outdoors at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. This much anticipated musical biography of the legendary Four Seasons takes theatre-goers behind the scenes to share in the triumphs, tough times and personal clashes of a group of friends whose music became symbolic of a generation, with hits such as “Sherry” and “Walk Like a Man.”
While seeing one of Broadway’s most popular shows at a baseball stadium might seem a bit unusual to some, the two Jupiter entertainment venues have been discussing a collaboration for some time. The partnership finally came to fruition in early 2021, when the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s $36 million renovation was scheduled into early February 2022, leaving them looking for a home for the opening performance. Luckily, timing was just right as there were no games scheduled at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium throughout January 2022.
“As we were contemplating the best way to make an impactful comeback after the pandemic, while juggling our current construction schedule, we knew we had to think outside the box,” said Andrew Kato, the Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director. “It was the perfect time to collaborate with our friends at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium who helped us develop the plan to use the stadium for Jersey Boys, a show we know will appeal to baseball fans and theatre-goers alike.”
That plan includes building a massive 2400 sq ft outdoor stage, complete with 216 LED screens situated from home base to the pitcher’s mound. Backed by an 8-piece band, the musical journey of one of the 1960’s and 70’s greatest bands will feel right at home in the stadium, with it’s rock concert vibe and sing-a-long-worthy tunes. Previous patrons can rest assured they will still experience the high-quality production value that the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is known for, while baseball fans who may be new to theatre, should be prepared to be wowed by the power of this performance.
Even if you are not overly familiar with the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, it is guaranteed that Jersey Boys will have you saying “Oh, I know that song!” throughout the entire show. A 2005 jukebox musical with music created by legendary songwriter, Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Creweand, Jersey Boystells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons’ rise to fame as the best-selling recording artists of the early and mid-1960s. This Broadway sensation will have patrons singing in their seats to songs like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “My Eyes Adore You” and “Working My Way Back To You.”
Jersey Boys is sponsored by Kathy and Joe Savarese, Homecare America; Suzanne Niedland in loving memory of Art and Meg Niedland; John Osher; and the John McDonald Company.
Individual tickets can be purchased online now starting at $66 per ticket, however, center mezzanine tickets will go on sale on Black Friday, for $45 per ticket, for one day only. There are two options to purchase single tickets for Jersey Boys: Group and luxury box office tickets can be purchased through the Maltz Jupiter Theatre at go.jupitertheatre.org or call: (561) 575-2223, or for mezzanine tickets contact Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium at www.rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com or call (561) 630-1828.
