Maltz Jupiter Theatre Sets the Stage for Community Involvement
From volunteer opportunities to youth education and a new season of shows, community members of all ages are encouraged to get involved with the performing arts
Opportunities abound for community members age nine to 99 at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre! This August, the newly renovated, world-renowned regional theatre will be hosting multiple events where locals can explore their talents while supporting the not-for-profit organization. Beginning with a volunteer open house, then the official kick-off of single ticket sales for the 2022/2023 season, and followed by a chance for children to be a part one of this season’s professional productions, community members of all ages and walks of life are encouraged to join in on the fun!
“Although the last few years have been challenging for the performing arts, we wouldn’t have been able to make it through the tough times without the amazing community and support we have in Jupiter,” said Andrew Kato, Producing Artistic Director and Chief Executive at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. “As we embark on a tremendous upcoming season of shows, musicals, and special events, we are honored to open our doors to this community and serve as a connection to exciting opportunities through live theatre.”
Creative Open Opportunities for Volunteers
From their support backstage with productions, to caring for patrons at the box office, or serving attendees at special events, the people who volunteer at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre are an integral part of the organization’s success. As the new season approaches, the Theatre is seeking new faces to join the current “cast” of volunteers, offering jobs based on talents, skills and interests. On Saturday, August 13 from 12:00-3:00pm EST, community members are welcome to participate in a Volunteer Open House event to learn about the numerous ways in which they can get involved. Theatre staff will be on hand to represent each department within the organization providing insight on how volunteers keep each production running. Subsequent to the Open House, attendees who elected to continue through the volunteer process will receive an invite to sign up for a group intake session to become an official volunteer. Take The “First Step to Stardom”
Kids won’t want to miss the chance to join one of this season’s Broadway-scale professional productions! The Theatre will be hosting its “First Step to Stardom” audition day on August 27th starting at 10am, offering roles for dozens of students ages 7-17 to be cast in Jersey Boys and Oliver!.
Participants will learn a simple dance combination and will be coached in singing a short song. After a few practice rounds, those auditioning will be escorted to the brand new Maltz Jupiter Theatre stage to perform the song and dance combination for consideration. After each participant has auditioned, the casting professionals will determine which children have earned a spot in one of the upcoming Broadway hits being performed this season and the opportunity to work with Tony® Award Nominated Director and Choreographer, Marcia Milgram Dodge, and two-time Tony® Award Nominated Director and Choreographer, Denis Jones.
“This is intended to be a fun and memorable event for kids as they explore the world of performing arts,” said Maltz Jupiter Theatre Company Manager, Eloisa Ferrer. “It is an opportunity to learn from some of the best directors and choreographers in the business in a stress-free environment, where they can experience the thrill of performing on stage.”
Each audition room will have multiple adults present throughout the day to support the children. Students selected to perform in the season productions must be available for rehearsals leading up to the shows and be present for each performance during its run. More information and participant registration will be available starting August 4 on the Maltz Jupiter Theatre website.
