Sensory Friendly Browsing Hours at the Lantana Branch

The Palm Beach County Library System is offering special library hours on Sunday, September 23 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Lantana Road Branch. The event is designed to provide a quieter and calmer environment for special needs children, teens and their families.

Families with children ages 0-17 are invited to visit the library before normal operating hours so that children and teens can become more familiar with the library and meet staff in a reduced stimulation environment. Space is limited, so families are required to register by contacting children’s services at the Lantana Road Branch by calling 561-304-4519.

Families will be able to sign up for a library card; check out books, movies, music and more; learn about free access to e-books, audiobooks, online magazines and online resources; have fun with puzzles, toys and coloring pages; chat with Talking Books and Books-By-Mail staff about their services; enjoy computers with free access to ABCMouse.com and take a tour of the library.

This event, to be held every 3 weeks, will feature everything available during regularly scheduled hours as well as an opportunity to access the library’s resources in a quiet and sensory friendly environment. Although members with special needs are welcome to use the library at any time, the Sensory Friendly Browsing Hours will allow those with Autism and other disabilities to feel welcomed, free of judgment, and free to be themselves.

The Lantana Road Branch is located at 4020 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, FL 33462.
