Boca Raton community comes together to raise funds for 8 local charities

The 2017 Downtown BBQ Throwdown to be hosted at Mizner Amphitheater

On Saturday, February 18, 2017 thousands will gather at Mizner Amphitheater for festivities, food tastings and a BBQ contest judged by celebrity chef, Bobby Flay. The 2017 Downtown BBQ Throwdown is truly transforming the face of fundraising, as most non-profit events focus on one cause. The proceeds from this event will benefit 8 local charities listed below.

• Boca Helping Hands

• Brothers of St. Gregory’s

• Florence Fuller Child Development Centers

• Family Promise

• Love Boca

• KidSanctuary

• The Spirit of Giving

The event will be chaired by Miguel and Denese Brito. “We could not be more thrilled to be a part of the 2017 Downtown BBQ Throwdown. This event reflects our long-time vision of supporting the local community for its diverse impact,” stated Denese Brito when asked about her passion surrounding this event.

Honorees, Terry and Jerry Fedele, will be recognized for their countless contributions to the Boca Raton community at an exclusive VIP Opening Celebration on Friday evening.

Bobby Flay will make a guest appearance and judge a BBQ chef contest on Saturday during the main event. He will also be available for a meet and greet for select sponsors. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available for purchase to Saturday’s main event, which grants entry to the event one hour early and provides upfront seating, as well as access to the hospitality tent. The all-day event will feature entertainment, appearances by local celebrities, tastings and a few surprises. A Farewell Brunch will take place on Sunday morning to recognize the sponsors and recipient charities. Celebrity chef, Anne Burrell will prepare a custom brunch menu for guests in attendance at the brunch.
