Winter & Holiday Fun in South Florida
Winter in a Sunny Wonderland! While the first snowflakes are falling up North, we are warm and sunny here in South Florida. December is a great time to get out and enjoy some of the winter and holiday fun South Florida has to offer. Winter break is an excellent time to check out the fantastic area we live in that we get to call home. Many of our favorite places to visit will be hosting fun holidays and winter-themed activities to keep the kids busy during the holiday season.
The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium has a full schedule of holiday events and activities planned so you can be merry and bright all season long!
“Let it Snow” Planetarium Show:
This holiday music show features a variety of festive classics from Frank Sinatra and Chuck Berry to Burl Ives and Trans Siberian Orchestra. A sing-along adventure! The soundtrack is visually enhanced with thematic animation, laser imagery, special effects and all-dome scenery in the audiovisual setting of our newly upgraded, state-of-the-art Planetarium. Laser Light Holiday Show: Come enjoy our brand new Laser Light Show system in our full-dome planetarium as we rock out to the holiday classics you know and love! Daily showtimes from through January 3rd.
Frigid Science Demonstrations: See physical changes occur right before your eyes as you view these ‘chilling’ states of matter experiments.
Winter Wonder and Anatomy-themed STEM Activities: Be amazed with a variety of cool winter-themed science labs and learn all about the body with anatomy STEM-based activities.
Explore the Real Bodies Exhibition: Always open during regular business hours and included in general admission! Fascinating and thought-provoking, now featuring the latest discoveries of COVID-19.

Santa’s Secret Workshops are back at Kids Need More Art! Join KNMA to make gifts from the heART! Make a memorable holiday gift for someone special. All events include pizza. Holiday time means fun time at Schoolhouse Children’s Museum & Learning Center. They have a calendar of activities that are loaded with holiday and winter fun. Here are some highlights that are available for all ages.
Dec 22 – 10 AM Grinch story time with craft and a visit from the grinch
Dec – 23 10 AM Insta Snow Make & Play
Dec. 24 10 AM The night before Christmas Story and make reindeer food (Note museum closes at noon)
Dec. 31 – 10 AM New Year’s Eve Confetti Slime and Play (Note museum closes at noon)

Holi-DAYS at McKee Botanical Garden Beginning Tuesday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 23rd come check out McKee. They have lots of fun holiday-themed activities in their beautiful Botanical Garden. While up there don’t forget to explore and play in the Children’s Garden and also check out the award-winning Nature-Connects© Exhibit made with Lego Bricks. Palm Beach Zoo Lights presented by Florida Power & Light Company, FPL SolarNow is sure to become a Florida holiday tradition for families and friends. While the animals slumber, Palm Beach Zoo will be illuminated for the holidays with over one million eco-friendly lights. Each evening from 6 – 9 pm the Zoo will be aglow with unique themed displays from the entrance through the Florida Wetlands, Tropics of the Americas and NEW this year, Asia. Christmas Day on the Farm – The Good Earth Children’s Petting Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is offering safe outdoor fun! They have two petting zoos and 280 animals to love. Have a picnic and enjoy a hands on private petting zoo just for you and your group. $150 for 6 people; $200 for 10 people (please wear masks).
